SWA comments on timeline announced by Scottish Government

Commenting on today's announcement by the Scottish Government that lockdown restrictions in Scotland will begin to ease from April onwards, Karen Betts, Chief Executive of the SWA said:

“The timeline for easing restrictions that was announced today by the Scottish Government is welcome news, particularly for tourism – which is a central part of the Scotch Whisky industry – and for our partners in the hospitality sector.  It’s good news that businesses that have been closed for many months can now begin to plan to reopen, and we look forward to further announcements about the resumption of international tourism.

“Scotland’s world-class tourism and hospitality sectors have been hit hard by COVID-19. Their full reopening will be critical in Scotland’s economic recovery and in protecting livelihoods across the country.  And for everyone to start to enjoy a sense of normality again.”
