SWA assesses benefits of European Union (EU) membership
in evidence to Treasury Select Committee.
The SWA today set out in depth for
the first time its assessment of the importance of EU membership to
the Scotch Whisky industry.
In evidence to the House of Commons
Treasury Select Committee, the SWA set out in detail, weighing pros
and cons in a considered way, why remaining part of the EU's single
market, intellectual property protection rules, and common
trade policy is of benefit to Scotch Whisky producers.
The evidence also sets out why it
is desirable for there to be further reform of the single market,
to eliminate national rules that generate needless complexity and
cost for the industry, and a more energetically pursued trade
