Draft spirit industry hygiene guide for consultation

Industry Guide to Good Hygiene Practice -
Consultation
The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA), other representatives of
the spirits drinks industry and the Food Standards Agency Scotland
(FSAS) have produced a Draft Industry Guide to Good Hygiene
Practice: Spirit Drinks for consultation.
The document has been drafted to meet guidelines for the
development of national voluntary guides to good hygiene
practice.
Views are invited from SWA members, other Scotch Whisky and
spirits producers, other food and drink trade associations, the
Food Standards Agency and the Food Standards Agency Scotland. It is
a legal requirement that such consultation is carried out.
When complete, the comprehensive guide is designed to help
spirit drinks producers, including Scotch Whisky distillers, comply
with two key pieces of legislation:
- Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 on the Hygiene of Foodstuffs
(852/2004).
- The Food Hygiene (Scotland) Regulations 2006 and the equivalent
regulations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These are
referred to as the UK Hygiene Regulations in the guide.
If you wish to take part in this consultation please contact Pam
Peacocke for more information and supporting documents (ppeacocke@swa.org.uk). The
consultation closes on 22 March.
